Tradition and modernity merge on stage

The 2025 gala introduced Si Shengsheng, the official mascot, inspired by the oracle bone script character "巳," which symbolises the snake in Chinese zodiac culture.

The design combined traditional Chinese aesthetics with a modern, appealing style, encapsulating the gala’s overarching theme of linking the past with the present.

The event featured an array of performances, including music, dance, comedy sketches, martial arts, and opera, while paying homage to Chinese cultural traditions.

Many acts incorporated intangible cultural heritage elements. Traditional crafts such as paper-cutting, shadow puppetry, and Chinese knots were integrated into costumes, set designs, and stage visuals.

A standout performance, "The Pen Writes the Dragon and Snake," drew from a poem by Li Bai, celebrating the cursive script artistry of young calligrapher Huai Su.
