    Jon Stewart announced his retirement from "The Daily Show" in 2015 after hosting it for 16 years. He currently an executive producer on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and runs a sanctuary for abused animals with his wife, Tracey, in New Jersey.

    Less than a year after Trevor Noah became a "Daily Show" correspondent, he was named as the replacement for Jon Stewart as host of the show – a role he held since September 2015.

    In September 2022, he announced he was leaving the show, made effective in December 2022.

    Stephen Colbert moved on from "The Daily Show" in 2005 for "The Colbert Report," which lampooned conservative cable shows.
